why blogging?
I have been thinking for quite sometime to write a blog, on the other hand there are already trillions of blogs; so why another blog, why bother. Why are there so many blogs anyway? I think we are all in a great great need to communicate, to be heard, to be read.
A couple of days ago I saw the film Jule & Julia, which by the way I did like it very much - but not because of the blogging story - and then I thought again what would be the point again to write another blog! On the other hand my friend M from Kenya is blogging as a journey towards love - http://sweetfreshlove.wordpress.com/- I enjoy reading her words, and she inspires me in many ways; so well, why not then another blog. I am in a journey as well, not necessarily towards love, but a journey towards my own self who has gotten lost along the way.
I am, or was - see I am not really sure at the moment - a visual artist who also likes cooking and eating and who at the moment is very unsure about what to do with her life specially at the professional level. I had quite a change in my life when in 2008 moved to Germany, that meant learning a language (I´ll get to it in a moment), getting to know another culture and trying to fit in the labor market , until now with no success I must say. So this blog will be sometimes about art, maybe I ´ll post some of my work, if I get to it; a little about cooking , since now I am mainly a housewife and probably some thoughts on this journey with an unknown destination. Like everyone else, I feel the need to "write out loud" what is going on in me, maybe as a way to be able to take a certain distance, re read it and hopefully see my path more clearly.
English is not my first language, so there´ll be mistakes but English has a broader reach and I do happen to like the language. Writing about languages, It´s been almost two years now since I am learning German, I can speak it now, I can read it, I can understand almost all, but I still have problems writing, specially when it is a formal text. And there are days I hate it! others I can see it is an interesting language...but anyway, in Germany one must Deutsch sprechen! Mark Twain wrote a text about "The awful German language" http://www3.uakron.edu/modlang/lrc/awfulger.html and he is not exagerating!
